ABOUT
Alfonso he started playing piano and saxophone through the school band and private instruction. He found his inspiration to play drums in high school by becoming part of the drumline. Furthering his music education at the university level, he received a bachelor’s degree at Florida State University and a master’s degree from Florida International University. Throughout his musical career, Alfonso has performed in various venues and festivals locally and around Florida.
As a composer, some of Alfonso’s main influences are John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, Chick Corea and many others. As a solo artist, he released a drumless track record titled "Nebulla" and a single titled "Nova" in 2022. His music is compiled of various genres that range from his latin heritage to jazz, fusion, gospel, hip hop and RnB.
His group, VISIONS, delivers a unique sound that mixes genres to create something brand new. This group bridges these gaps, and puts a focus on blending all aspects of music. VISIONS is a fusion of jazz, hip-hop, funk, afro-latin, soul music and more.
He has studied under Phoenix Rivera, Rodolfo Zuniga, Leon Anderson, Jason Hainsworth, Bill Peterson, Jamie Ousley, Jonathan Dadurka, Gary Campbell, Ruben Caban, and Paul Ayick.
